I went with the family and relatives to paymy respects to a dear friend I knew so wellTo abide in the spendid peace and warmthto ponder and reflect on the many storieswe tell
I heard tales of his childhood to his youthand the man he grew up to beYes they remembered it all both goodand bad and of the happy soul was heBut I knew him as a soldier and with many
others we did trainTo fight the war in Vietnam members ofWhiskey Two RNZIR we became
The stories they told when he returned home
was familiar yes we all had changed
From bright eyed youth to men withdrawn
full of dread misery and pain
It was in July of 1969 the same month that
man walked upon the moon
Six comrades met with tradgedy with courage
Danny gave comfort and tended to their
wounds
And as I gaze upon the wall where his
soul has been put to rest
With the tributes of other soldiers of war
we can draw comfort that he stands with the best.
