Family Tribute At Taita Cemetary

I went with the family and relatives to pay

my respects to a dear friend I knew so well

To abide in the spendid peace and warmth

to ponder and reflect on the many stories

we tell

I heard tales of his childhood to his youth

and the man he grew up to be

Yes they remembered it all both good

and bad and of the happy soul was he

But I knew him as a soldier and with many

others we did train

To fight the war in Vietnam members of

Whiskey Two RNZIR we became

The stories they told when he returned home
was familiar yes we all had changed
From bright eyed youth to men withdrawn
full of dread misery and pain

It was in July of 1969 the same month that
man walked upon the moon
Six comrades met with tradgedy with courage
Danny gave comfort and tended to their
wounds

And as I gaze upon the wall where his
soul has been put to rest
With the tributes of other soldiers of war
we can draw comfort that he stands with the best.
For the Family
